Hand painted sailboat. Based on a Pedro de Lemos design
This hand-painted sailing boat is based on a design suggested by California artist Pedro de Lemos (1882-1954). It is created in the style of cuerda seca tiles which have raised lines that produce areas to be filled with colored glazes. It is a time consuming process but the results are beautiful.
It is stoneware and measure about 4 5/8 inch square and about 3/8 inch thick. Like all of my tiles it is frost proof andthere is a notch on the back if you choose to hang it.
